About Dr. Richardson
DNP, FNP-BC, IFMCP
Dr. Chelsey Richardson, an esteemed graduate of the University of Washington, holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She is also an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) — the highest level of training in root-cause, systems-based care.
With nearly two decades in healthcare, Chelsey has served patients in hospitals, family practices, walk-in clinics, women’s health centers, and through telemedicine. This breadth of experience allows her to blend the best of conventional medicine with the integrative, personalized approach of functional medicine.
Her passion for holistic wellness began early. Growing up, she watched her grandparents brew kombucha, stock shelves with supplements, and consult a well-worn copy of Whitaker’s Guide to Natural Healing. Later, witnessing family members with autoimmune conditions struggle in the conventional system—and facing her own challenges with adrenal PCOS, acne, gut dysbiosis, low thyroid function, anxiety, and tendon injuries caused by a fluoroquinolone antibiotic—deepened her commitment to root-cause medicine. Having personally walked the road of complex health struggles, she understands what it’s like to search for answers. This lived experience inspired her to pursue advanced training in functional medicine, where she found the tools to restore her own health and now guides others to do the same.
Chelsey earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through Whitworth University and Washington State University in 2006 and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Washington in 2013. From 2018–2023, she pursued advanced training with the Institute for Functional Medicine, culminating in 2025 when she became a fully certified IFMCP. A lifelong learner, she is always exploring new research and attending conferences, bringing fresh knowledge and insight to the patients she serves.
Known for her thorough and attentive style, Chelsey takes time to deeply listen and understand each patient’s story. She believes true healing begins when patients feel seen, heard, and supported, and she partners with them to create step-by-step plans that fit real life.
At the heart of her practice, Flourish Functional Health, is the belief that you are designed to flourish. Chelsey helps patients restore health by addressing foundational imbalances, supporting digestion, hormones, immunity, and detox pathways, and weaving together nutrition, lifestyle, advanced testing, and compassionate care. She also recognizes that tending to the soul and nurturing spiritual well-being are foundational to health, and welcomes patients to include that dimension of healing in their journey if they choose.
Outside of her clinical work, Chelsey treasures time with her husband and four children, enjoys the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and finds joy in gardening, working out, and playing soccer. Guided by faith, hope, and trusted knowledge, she serves as a compassionate guide, helping individuals restore health and flourish.
